The Tony Lowell Mystery Series
Writing
as E. C. Ayres, Gene Ayres was one of the principle originators of the Eco-Thriller. But in creating the Tony Lowell character,
Ayres went further, taking the traditional cultural concept of the hard-boiled private detective and re-inventing
him completely, into a socially conscious, former 60s war veteran/peacenik with a drive to right the wrongs of his world, who isn't
adverse to accompanying an occasional beer with a toke, and refuses to carry a gun.
